Welcome to 1st Tasburgh Sea Scout Group section.
1st Tasburgh Sea Scout Group has sections that cater for young people, aged between 6 and 14 years. For the age range 14-18, we have the 1st Tasburgh Nelson Explorer Scout Unit which is linked to the group.
We normally meet at Tasburgh Village Hall every Thursday during school term time, with the sections having separate meeting times as follows:
|6 – 8
|5.00 until 6.15
|8 – 10
|6.30 until 7.45
|10 – 14
|8.00 until 9.15
We provide an exciting programme appropriate to the different sections’ age ranges, all aimed at meeting the Scouting purpose to contribute to the personal development of young people.
This personal development includes promoting the physical, intellectual, social and spiritual well-being of the individual, helping them achieve their full potential. In Scouting, we believe that young people develop most when they are ‘learning by doing,’ when they are given responsibility, work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for themselves.
Most activities are included in the fees, which are payable monthly by standing order. However there are some activities throughout each year which are at an extra cost, typically weekend camps and activities at commercial venues.
Once settled in, you will be ‘invested’ where you are formally welcomed into the section appropriate for your age and become a member of the worldwide group of Scouts. All the different sections have their own uniform, and once a young person is invested in the group this uniform is normally worn to most events.
All adult leaders, helpers and executive committee do so entirely on a voluntary basis with many hours behind the scenes preparing and undertaking formal training as well as the actual meeting itself.
We are always looking for more adult leaders and helpers, whether regular or if you can offer specific skills. We operate a waiting list for young people for the different sections, contact us for more information.
If you are interested in finding out more, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
